Who We Are
We are a Tree of Hope to the Forgotten.
Survivors' Mentors Organization (SMO) is a women-led, community-based organization founded in 2016 and officially registered in 2019. Based in Kitengela, Kajiado County, Kenya, we focus on supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and vulnerable women, girls, and youth. Through mentorship, psychosocial support, and advocacy, we strive to build a violence-free society.

To empower women, girls, and youth in Kajiado County through advocacy, protection, healing, and human rights promotion.
Our Focus Areas
Survivors' Mentors Thematic Areas
We run five core thematic programs in Kajiado County to promote healing, protection, and advocacy for women, girls, and youth.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
"Ending violence, restoring Dignity." Risk reporting, prevention, and survivor-centered support to restore confidence and healing.
Mental Health & Support
"Healing minds, strengthening communities." Psychosocial counseling, peer support groups, and stigma-free spaces for emotional recovery.
Reproductive Health (SRHR)
"Empowering choices, protecting futures." Menstrual hygiene kits distribution, reproductive rights education, and preventing teenage pregnancy.
Advocacy & Human Rights
"Raising voices for change." Promoting equality, civic participation, policy change, and access to justice for vulnerable populations.
Environmental & Agriculture
"Sustaining livelihoods, nurturing growth." Climate-smart gardening and agriculture to build financial independence and reduce SGBV vulnerability.

What We Do
We translate our thematic strategies into day-to-day community support, safety mechanisms, and growth opportunities across Kitengela and rural Kajiado County.
Community Campaigns
Grassroots awareness creation targeting local, cultural, and religious leaders to challenge SGBV and harmful cultural practices.
Dignity Kit Distribution
Providing sanitary towels and personal hygiene supplies to school girls and vulnerable young women to keep girls in school.
Rescue & Referrals
Working closely with local authorities to run safe space rescue networks, legal assistance, and health referral pathways for SGBV victims.
Capacity Workshops
Empowering local women and youth with skills in human rights advocacy, civic participation, and financial management.
